For us at Bakery de France, showing up has always meant more than just baking bread.
On May 3rd, our team proudly participated in the Race for Hope, Washington D.C.—a tradition we’ve carried forward since 1998. What began as a way to support an important cause has grown into something deeply personal to our team and our story.
We run in honor of Mike Gordy, a former colleague whose memory continues to inspire us. His impact is still felt across our team, and this event gives us a meaningful way to come together, reflect, and carry that legacy forward.
This year’s race was filled with moments that remind us why we continue to show up—team members walking side by side, sharing stories, supporting one another, and standing alongside a community united for something bigger than all of us. It’s a powerful reminder that while our work centers around crafting artisan bread, our purpose extends far beyond what we make.
As we celebrate 40 years of Bakery de France, traditions like this one are part of what define us. They speak to who we are—not just as bakers, but as people. A team built on care, connection, and commitment to both our craft and our community.
To everyone who participated, supported, and continues to raise awareness—thank you. We’re honored to stand with you.
And we’ll see you there again next year.
